South America is home to an imposing mountain range, the Andes, and to native peoples who have long and storied histories as well. Aconcagua (in Argentina) is the tallest mountain on the continent, and has a colorful desert setting. As well, a hike in the Cordillera Blanca (in Peru) or El Torres Del Paine National Park (in Chile) are not to be missed. Here is a look at this varied and beautiful terrain.
